Is this a Black-throated Diver (in winter plumage)? Pics taken on October 27th in Bucharest.

Yes. It's not a Gt. Northern because it's lacking the 'eye ring' caused by the pale area around the eye, the 'half collar' at the base of the neck plus the bird doesn't look 'heavy' enough. The slender bill and white patch at the rear of the flank can be shown by Gt. Northern at times so I find the head / neck pattern more reliable.

I find the way it looks like a Guillemot in the thumbnails very distinctive

Thank you for your reply, Jane. Unfortunately there are very small chances to do this kind of comparison here, in Romania.
