I have decided to require that I see purple martins in the flesh.

It seems not inconceivable that they are here in Minnesota this time of year.

Where is a good place to go and see them?

Use Ebird here

Find a body of water close to you, and odds are you'll see purple martins. Over the Mississippi river in the summertime evenings before sunset, they're a common sight. Surely, folks living close to water have martin colony boxes up

You're welcome, Stu'....good luck!

Evenings are the best time to see masses of martins, due to insect hatches coming off at that time.

In another month, big Hexigenia limbata mayflies will be hatching throughout Minnesota, and its waters. The action begins at around sunset. Its a one of kind nature show.
