Birding location help needed

Hi Everyone - I'm from the U.S. and will be in Durham in a couple of weeks. I'm interested in birding and bird photography and was hoping you could tell me a few of the best places to go. I will have a car and don't mind driving a bit of a distance. I have been on the boat trips to the Farne Islands several times. Would I still be able to see a significant # of birds in early August? Any other places you would recommend? I know I will spending at least one day in the North York Moors. Thank you!

Hi Susie

Have a look in Opus.... this article for Druridge Bay will give you a start - lots of great reserves there.

Hi
You should try putting a list of target birds together, then people can get much more specific for you in terms of locations.
regards
Paul

Saltholme RSPB near Port Clarence in Cleveland can be good; there should still be reasonable numbers of waders around. If you don't mind going a bit further, you could try the Harrier roost at Blacktoft on the Humber estuary at dusk.

Hi Susie, you could try the Whitburn coastal park and surrounding area. In the last few days it's had a Barred Warbler, a Wryneck, a Red Backed Shrike, an Arctic Warbler and at least two Greenish Warblers!
