Lifer #297: Asian Openbill Stork - 6 birds were sighted resting on a few tall trees at Seletar West Link on 23 January. A first record for Singapore. A flock of 8 birds was first sighted/photographed by a photographer on 22 January a few kilometres north of this location. These two sightings in Singapore followed the sighting of a flock of over 300 birds also for the first time at Batang Tiga ricefields in Melaka, Malaysia in early January 2013.

Lifer #299: Daurian Redstart. This female bird could possibly be a vagrant to Singapore. According to Craig Robson, the southern-most limit of its wintering range is known to be in South Annam (Southern Vietnam). It is the first record for Singapore. Otherwise, it could be just an escapee from the caged bird trade or our Jurong Bird Park.

Lifer #304: Pied Cuckoo

Currently could not determine status as this is the first record for Singapore and there is the possibility that it is an escapee from the caged-bird trade. Recorded as a fairly common breeding visitor to Myanmar and vagrant to Thailand and Northern Malaysia.

Lifer #305: Sakhalin Leaf Warbler - rare winter visitor/passage migrant to Singapore.

Initially mis-ID as Pale-legged Leaf Warbler on January 4. But heard it singing its song on March 8 and confirmed to be Sakhalin Leaf Warbler instead. Both species' appearance and call are near identical but their songs are very different.
