Think I'd disagree slightly - the pose is very nice and it is sharp focus, but the colours are too over-saturated, too bright blue, and the background foliage too vivid yellow-green/green

Agreed, the colors are unpleasantly (and unnaturally) garish, presumably as a result of over-enthusiastic deployment of the saturation tool in post-processing. With regard to sharpness, the wing feathering is OK in that respect but the head and neck are noticeably on the soft side.

My memory of the Tri Coloured Heron in the West Indies, where I saw it often (sometimes from my office window), was that in the harsh sunlight, it was almost purply blue; very bright, but in the shade was drab, and easily overlooked, so I tend to disagree with the 'garish' comment.
I also based my prior comment on the overall feel of the photograph, and its impact. I appreciate the need for accuracy in the Opus, and for ID, but I like some artistic photos in the gallery. |

Wow. The tri-coloured heron is now on my expanding list of must-see birds! Amazing.
(The list is currently pretty small tbf). |

Poor Judge of Pasta.

It's a list that will grow alarmingly quickly. And to be brutally honest Tricolored Heron, though nice enough, will (should even!) be quickly eclipsed. There's much better out there!
