I've searched for this information using a variety of resources, but have not found the answer... Last year, I could go into a local park sometime during the spring/summer and almost always hear the territorial call of the ESO, then see him. This year, I'd looked forward to finding him again, but I never heard him despite my trying during all of the spring/summer! My conclusion was that he'd found another home. BUT, yesterday, I finally saw him up in a tree (didn't hear him, saw him) in his familiar area. After watching him for a bit, he finally gave his territorial call.
My questions are:
1. When are the ESOs most vocal (specifically giving their territorial call)? During spring, summer, or fall? Maybe I was wrong in remembering it as the spring/summer; maybe it was, in fact, the fall (late summer)
2. Any other reasons why he'd become more quiet?
