I have'nt been doing much birding of late so my sketches are scarce. Have been so inspired by the work shown on this forum that I am determined to get back to it. Meanwhile here's the last work I did in the field, Oct 2006, Canada Warbler in Kilbaha, Co Clare.

Hi there Phil!

Been a while, hope you are well...

Sketches are great, superb stuff. Have to admit I was green with envy viewing pictures of this on on the net last October!

Look forward to seeing more,

All the Best,

Alan.

Hi Alan, Yea it was a great bird, I don't twitch much now but had to go for that one.Love your work, you have come a long way since Cape,
Phil.

Here is one I did recently from video footage I had taken. I used coloured pencils.

Spot on stuff, Phil! Love the field notes -- you'd better make more now that you've posted these for us to see!

Goa

Hi all, was looking through some old sketchbooks and found some from a trip to goa in 1999, seems like a lifetime ago, keep promising to go back, ...maybe this year.

lovely sketches and notes, glad to see I'm not the only one who draws an arrow and writes 'light' in their sketchbook.

I have been so inspired by the work shown by you guys that I did my local patch today with sketchbook in hand instead of going to the studio. after 3 hours of meaningless scribbles I returned despondent but determined to try again. I had forgotton how hard it is to sketch moving birds, to console myself I have gone on line to look at some more of the stuff you guys have been up to and I am now almost suicidal. Only one thing for it ... a good bottle of Rioja....and try again tomorrow.
