In the Valley Snipe normally start returning in July but June birds are not unusual. Before the R.S.P.B where in the Valley Snipe bred in the Marsh annually (per A. Bowater). The last confirmed breeding was back in 1987 with two very young birds being seen. Birds have been seen in the Marsh in all months.

Managed my first visit to the Valley for 10 mins since 20 April, hoping to see GWE for life list, but not to be, had to settle for a Little Egret.
On the way in I noticed the Aswan Dam structure, talk about a sledge hammer to crack a nut. I wonder if it will ever be used!!!
Managed 3 more on year list, latest House Martin !!??!

Some exciting news! Ross checked the swift nest bricks using a mirror and found a chick in one so we have confirmed breeding! Per Cathy Taylor
