I live in Houston, Texas, and we have several exotic species that have reportedly been on the decline or eradicated after the hard freeze of January 2018.
These species are:
- Orange-cheeked Waxbill
- Bronze Mannikin
- Northern Red Bishop
From sightings on eBird.com, I have found at least 10 individual Waxbills, 1 Mannikin, and 4 Bishop reports since the freeze in mid-January.
The Scaly-breasted Munia, Red-vented Bulbul, and Monk Parakeets seem to be doing just fine, though.
Does anyone have further breeding information or sightings of these birds since the freeze? If so, please let me know.
