This one, with gorgeous, but very vicious thorns, was, as you can see, in someone's garden bed.

Edit: Best match I could find would be the native Vachellia gummifera, but I'm really not sure.

I have been looking in internet and I think it fits better with Vachellia horrida. You said It was at a garden, so it could have been planted.
