Micro id, Cumbria UK (1 Viewer)

Hello

I found this moth earlier today in mixed woodland. It looks like a Gracillariidae to me but I can't find a decent match in my field guide.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

Caloptilia betulicola?

Although the wing pattern doesn't look much like the sketch in my field guide, I think you're right anyway!

I collected the specimen (not something I usually do) and the wing length was measured at over 8mm in length, which apparently rules out all of the Caloptilia other than C. betulicola and C. elongella. Also the hindleg coxa, trochanter and femur were found to be white, ruling out C. elongella.

Also it looks similar to the Caloptilia betulicola shown here:
