The Lesser Whitethroat looked most odd, bit like a Common Yellowthroat without the Yellow?

The Grey Wagtail appeared to have ''exaggerated'' white wing bars, unfortunately both disturbed by passers by not re-found despite much looking.

Been trying to evaluate the prey item carried by the Hobby afore it disappeared over the roof, might be a Wagtail?

Cheers

1. The L.Whitethroat looks perfectly normal to me Ken. (It has a strong shadow across it’s face if that is what you were referring to?)
2. Maybe due to moult (tertials/coverts)?
3. Very hard to work out prey item from photo - (if you saw it as a black and white bird, maybe House Martin or Swallow might be more likely than a Pied Wagtail?)

3 nice birds to see on patch :t:

Yes cheers Deb, the LW to my eye did appear to have a deeper darker hood/ear covert even allowing for the lighting ambience cutting across it’s head, just goes to show variation in all things. :t:
