Latest update from the BTO: Countdown to Bird Atlas launch


Read the first review of the new Bird Atlas 2007-11 on Mark Avery’s blog. Mark says “It’s fascinating…buy it! Read it! And think about what it shows of the ornithological reality of the UK and Ireland”. Pre-ordered copies are already arriving on doorsteps. Official celebrations of the book begin later this week. I would commend the BTO 2007/11 Atlas to those who have not obtained or ordered a copy. It is a fine work and a great achievement for Dawn Balmer and her team. It could be a good potential Xmas present for a birder.

Quite agree! Mine (Xmas pressie!) has arrived, nearly did my back in carrying it into the house! Will take me the next 5 years to browse through it.

I got my copy on Saturday and it us outstanding and apart from highlighting the change in our avifauna since the last atlas, it will form a major tool in shaping our research priorities over the next 10+ years.
