I'm sure most folks here would have seen this 2016 series previously, but Episode 2 - "Masters of the Sky" is screening now on 9Gem - Sydney .... may be worthwhile for those in the Western states to catch it, or watch on catch up TV.

Fascinating stuff detailing the aerodynamics and flight of Swans, Peregrines, Sparrowhawks, Hummingbirds, Albatross, Cranes etc :t:

The way that the Peregrine tipped the Pelican out of the sky in a big jumbled mess by pulling on its beak to get the head out of alignment with rest of the flying body was just absolutely Insane !! :eek!:

I also have new found respect for the flying abilities of Sparrowhawk's ..... the purpose designed acceleration, the ground hugging stealth flight, and the pinpoint accuracy to slot through the miniscule gap between railings in a wooden gate at full tilt was again - absolutely Insane !! :eek!:

:) :eat: :t:
