Found this animal in August in Helsinki and I have no idea what it is. Without the tail it couldn't have been longer than 80cm (2.6 ft).

Seriously though, surprised they're extinct in Finland, with all the inaccessible and remote habitat there, I bet they're hanging on somewhere.

Human campaign or other reason for extinction?

Outcompeted / killed by American Mink - which is why even remote areas aren't safe for them :-C
 
Saw a mink in Lithuania a few years back - very exciting until we identified it as an American. Became a bit disappointing then.
