Feather Identification (1 Viewer)

Hi everyone! this morning when i went to put new food out for the birds, i noticed there were a ton of feathers, all the same on the ground by the feeder. i got 17, but there we’re definitely more in the trees that i couldn’t see/get too. i’m hoping the bird is okay as i’ve never seen so many feathers at once. hoping someone will be able to identify them for me! thank you! also, the feathers are very soft and fluffy, especially at the bottom. they’re pretty much exactly the color in the picture. the largest one is just about 3 1/2 inches, the smallest 1/2 inch and all the others are 1 and 1/2 inches

Most likely from a dove, mainly breast feathers, and the result of being taken by a predator rather than moulting.

Not sure of the bird it is from but I tend to agree Pat.

Meanwhile, Hi there and a warm welcome to you from those of us on staff here at BirdForum.
