Hello everyone! I am new to the Bird Forum site, it's great! I have some questions related to an upcoming honeymoon to Europe in early July. We are traveling to Rome, Florence, Sicily, Parco Nationale d'Abruzzo, then up to the alps region. Wanted to see Zugspitze and that area, Castle Neuschwanstein has been recommended by friends (and also is reccomended by the Where to Watch Birds in Europe book for Wallcreeper), and Bodensee Lake. We will also go to Baden Baden, where my fiancees family originates.

I have a lot of idea on where to go in Italy, we have hired a bird guide for Sicily, but am not as sure in Germany. If anyone has suggestions on birdy places near the following site, let us know!

Parco Nationale d'Abruzzo, Italy
Bavarian Alps area
Baden Baden / Black Forest
Switzerland / Western Austria

No specific target birds. This is our first trip leaving North America so lots will be new and exciting. Seeing as we will already be in Southern Italy, perhaps a focus on birds more found in higher elevation or Northern Europe. One bird in particular we'd love to see is the Black Woodpecker.

Thank you so much for your help, and good birding!!
