Not enough RAM (1 Viewer)

Steve Babbs

Well-known member
My computer has suddenly stopped letting me open Photoshop Elements 2 saying there is not enough RAM - to start it, it isn't that my pictures are too big. I have been using it on this computer for 3 years without problems and as I have 512MB of RAM it shouldn't be a problem anyway. I've tried all the usual stuff restarting etc. and have even uninstalled and reinstalled it, but with no luck.

Any thoughts most welcome.

I believe you have some issues with Spyware, maybe worse; it may be quicker (much!) if you download HijackThis, extract it to a new folder and run it using the 'Scan and save a log file' button.

Attach the logfile to your next Post and I'll analyse it for you.

Someone had a similar problem which was resolved by resetting the prefs for elements.

Hold down CTRL/ALT/SHIFT as you start the program and accept the dialog.

This appears to have fixed it! You have no idea how grateful I am having just spent a grand on camera gear I thought I'd be unable to edit my pictures.
Thanks to everyone else who responded as well.
