Digiscoping camera for Zeiss 85mm scope (1 Viewer)

I am looking for advice on which camera will best suit the above scope and would be grateful to hear from anyone who has first-hand experience, pro's and con's etc.

Last time I did any digiscoping was with a Contax SL300 in 2006 so I'm hoping someone can steer me in the right direction for an up to date solution.

Any advice gratefully received.

Hi Steve,

Many thanks for this, all very informative and very easy to follow. Following your advice and a couple of other sites in the US I have decided to go for a Sony Cyber-shot W300 and an SRB Griturn adaptor.

At least that way I can still get a shot of a distant bird, even if it is a 'record'

Thanks again

Hi Stuart
I put this page together which may help you as I use the Zeiss and have a quick run down of three cameras I have used myself with this setup.

Hi Stuart
Glad you found it of some help. I have fancied the Sony route myself it has just come down to the fact that every camera I own uses SD cards and so I would have to carry even more gear than I already do.

I am sure you will enjoy Digiscoping as with practice it can be very rewarding.
Good luck.

Hi Steve,

I hope I will enjoy it more with more user friendly kit.

Here is the best digiscoped image I have, back in 2005, a sun-bathing Yellow-billed Cuckoo taken on the Upper Texas Coast Tour.
