If I fire off enough shots, maybe just one of 'em
Those eyes and head look the part.

Sat on a reed about a foot above the waterline.

Don't recall seeing one before.

It's a dragonfly exuvia - the shed skin of the final instar larva (dragonflies don't pupate). It looks like a darter exuvia on my phone screen.
