Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen
I need to pick your brains, I live in a rather built up area close to an airport, quite a few established gardens around going back 40 to 50 years lots of trees etc. parkland a few hundred yards away regular visits by foxes and a badger, but the only birds that visit are what can be described as a colony of sparrows, I kid you not hundreds it seems, starlings now and again hordes of pigeons of various colours and genre, but no Blue Tits Finches Robins or anything else is there a very good reason for this ? your thoughts on the matter are gratefully appreciated ….thank you and enjoy the evening

Jk

Perhaps too civilized for small nesting passerines?
They need lots of insects to feed their progeny, but insects are not seen as helpful by the parks departments, who spray pesticides liberally lest the bugs afflict the tourists.
We have similar issues here in NYC, where the prime measure of success is 'number of visitors'. Hence we pave the footpaths and cut down the old and diseased trees, even though they serve as refuges and food banks for the small fry that lacks charisma.
