Dominican Replublic - Santo Domingo/Juan Dolio area (1 Viewer)

Hello!!

A friend and I will be visiting Santo Domingo/Juan Dolio, Dominican Replublic from January 25 to February 1. Unfortunately, my friend is a non-birder (can you imagine?!!), so my birding trips have to be limited to the Santo Domingo/Juan Dolio area.

From what I've read, the Santo Domingo Botanical Gardens and Zoo are two great birding spots. Can anyone recommend other birding spots in and around Santo Domingo?

And if you know, could you let me know if the areas are considered safe for lone birders to be tramping around in.

Any suggestions or advice would be most appreciated!

Many thanks!
