Hi everyone, thanks for letting me join. I have a dead juvenile raptor on my lawn. should I inform anyone in case it has been shot or poisoned? It is either a sparrowhawk or a buzzard.

Perhaps contact your nearest police wildlife liaison officer or the hawk and owl trust. Can you put the corpse in a freezer meanwhile. One question though, why do you think it is a juvenile of those species?

Hi RossI, welcome to the forum on behalf of the staff and moderators. Can’t help with your question as I am on the other side of the big pond.

Hi RossI and welcome to BF.

It's good of you to try and find out why it died and would appreciate it if you could let us know if you find out.

Double bag or even triple bag it if you or others are concerned about putting non-food things in your freezer - it should be perfectly safe to do so if you handle it carefully. (Needs to be kept cold for possible future post mortem)

Hi Ross and welcome. I would follow the advice already given on here. If still unsure you could always contact the RSPB who I am sure will be able to advise. Putting that aside, welcome to Birdforum.
