Freshwater Crab (1 Viewer)

Save the Egyptian Vulture in Greece
Sorry no picture, but does anyone have any ideas for a small crab 7x5cm found in a near dried up pool up in the mountains of Crete, it was with six small Stripe-necked Terrapins. If anyone can provide a name I would be grateful as none of my local wildlife books list a freshwater crab
Thanks

ColD

Hi Rozinante,
Thanks for the reply. yep not a lot to go on sorry bout that, but just on the minute detail I gave you have found I think the right crab in Potamon fluviatile:t:

I am planning to get back to this pool before it dries completely and grab some pictures so will be able to positively ID it

Thanks again
ColD

More thanks to Google than me I think Col. They were the only two freshwater crabs that came up.

That shot from the first link of one sat an a moss covered rock in a wood is strange. I can't get used to the idea of crabs in woods.
