Fungus on scope (1 Viewer)

Just wondered if someone had experience of strange fungus like stuff on optic lenses?

My Leica scope has developed a weird fungus like growth on the internal lenses, which presumably should be completely isolated from the environment. The scope is currently with Leica, who are presumably fixing it, but the (very helpful) guy in the camera shop who returned it for me was not at all clear what was going on. Anyone have any thoughts?
