In a few weeks, my husband and I are having the first China vacation in ages. We're headed to Lijiang for 5 days, not only for birds, but culture and scenery in general. I wondered about places which would provide more chances to see birds, especially within or close to the city. I haven't even looked at lists yet to think about particular birds. Though I've been to the SW before, it was in pre-birding years, so lots of birds should be new. Since my husband isn't a big birder, I'm looking for suggestions about places that will give us the sense of seeing more regional birds rather than specific hard-to-find species.
Any trip reports you recommend? (in addition to Mike's from this past summer)
