I am not really a birder, I photograph ships mostly but am not sure if there is a forum that caters to that particular perversion so here I am. I do occasionally photograph birds.

This is an, er, seagull type bird or maybe a giant pigeon?

and this definitely has wings:

Hello and welcome.
It's definitely a Gull of some description.
Birders tend to avoid the word seagull.

And something to make you even happier, Birdforum has a sister site called Ships Nostalgia
http://www.shipsnostalgia.com/

Many thanks! But it appears to be historical whereas my interest is in current ships that are parked up in my back yard (ie Gibraltar Harbour)

I have actually found a big ship forum but the programming behind it is atrocious and everything screws up so I have abandoned ship, so to speak.

From a user's point of view this forum (ie here) is a pleasure to use as everything works first time (thank you vBulletin - used by a lot of good forums)

My main interest is not actually in ships particularly but in trying to improve my photography and just take interesting, quality photos and this forum appears excellent for that. So I will stay here and try not to mention the "S" word again.

Agree on YLG, paler upperwing thn LBBG. Note the unusually thin dark markings on p5 in both wings, almost absent in the right wing.

According to Wikipedia:

"In some places such as Gibraltar they have started nesting on buildings"

Well, they certainly have about 50 yards from me!
