Dartfords about anywhere? (1 Viewer)

Hi all.

I'm coming down to Surrey from Cumbria for a few days next week, and was wondering if there any chance of making contact with a Dartford Warbler? I'll be staying in Woking.

Any help gratefully received - thanks in advance.

Steve.

I've heard of a few spots where they are such as Brentmoor, and Hankley Commons.

But, my tip would be Crooksbury Common between Elstead and Farnham. It's a small compact site, but has all the heathland specialities. Grid ref of car park: SU895453. The hot spot for Dartford's seems to be towards the bottom of the hill, around the small ponds (which incidentally, have introduced Natterjack Toads in them).

Didn't manage to get to Crooksbury unfortunately, but have just got in from a 3 hour walk around Chobham Common, where we found four. Others of note were a Hobby, and several Nightjars at dusk.
