Birds of Warwickshire (2 Viewers)

14/9/11 Bentley Park Wood minimum 100 Siskin, 1 Lesser Redpoll, 9 Meadow Pipit over.
Hartshill Hayes CP 23 Siskin in the carpark
Hartshill Hills 24 Meadow pipit and 28 Swallow.
Manceter Hills 60 Siskin flew over also Lesser Redpoll, 20 House Martin, 6 Meadow Pipit and Whitethroat.

Meadow pipits over in all areas sometimes singles or small groups migrating south from there summer moorland habitats where the insect cycle is slowing up, these moors becoming barren places in winter.

Thanks,i did contact Peter,well actually bumped into him at the res this evening(very helpful).Thankyou Peter,unfortunately didn't bump into the BNG.
 
16/9/11 Hartshill Redstart also 4 Meadow Pipit in corn stubble towards Caldecote after yesterday's large migration off the moors. Also migrant Chaffinch coming in now.

19/9/11 Mancetter Hills 40 Meadow pipit, 12 Swallow, 10 House Martin.
Hartshill Hayes picnic area Hobby, Yellow Wagtail, Meadow Pipits 1,2,4 over South. 4 Chiffchaff with Tit Flock. Steady trickle of Lesser Black Back gulls heading South East.
Local movements Kingfisher, 13 Siskin and 6 Mistle Thrush.

21/9/11 Hartshill Hayes CP 14:10 Juv Osprey low over picnic area then veered off down the valley and continued heading south.
Local movements Siskin 7 and 14 over.
Hartshill Hobby
Oldbury Wheatear.
Mancetter Hills Meadow Pipit 14, Swallow 20, House Martin 4.

Greenland/Icelandic Wheatears

4/10/11 6 Wheatear in ploughed field adjoining Blind Pit lane, Wishaw (John Mallinson).

Ignored by Birdguides for some reason, fall of 150 large wheatears at Spurn on 3/10 were almost all seen as Greenland/Icelandic on size alone. It is likely that these were your birds filtering through.

This is interesting given the almost total lack of other fall species apart from one or two (Greenland?) Lap Bunting, indicating their origins on these westerlry biased winds.
