'Golden eagle' speculation mounts (BBC News) (1 Viewer)

Great journalism there. Lets get a botanist to comment on the presence of Golden Eagles in wales. If thats the picture they have taken it from it looks to be collecting nesting material. Not sure that the RSPB pronouncing it an escape is entirely wise. Hope it is genuine.

Or wearing jesses.

Hilarious nonsense!!

Err.....the guy who photgraphed says it had 'tethers', is a juvenile and an escape - but don't let that get iin the way of a good story

Surely a letter to the Govenors about the poor standard of sensationalistic journalism by the Beeb is required.

Oh and it's probably a 2nd/3rd year at best - hence the moulty plumage and unlikely to be breeding as its really too young.

Most 'real' golden eagles have been incubating for a wee while now.

Still, even at an escape it's an impressive bird.

Cheers,
Andrew

almost as good as the story of the eagle owl attacking people's pets the other day which noted "the bird is wearing tethers which suggest it may have escaped a falconry" as though there were an alternative explanation.

Its an escaped bird that has been in and around the area since october last year. Its been taking ducks and the local farmers chickens. Rather than have someone from the welsh raptor study group speculating about it they should have had a falconer as the jesses prove its an escaped bird
