Me & Our Max (21 months) (1 Viewer)

The thread on birds & kids had me thinking about yesterday...

We (his grandma, or mamam) & I took young Max to the graveside of his great grandma yesterday. He is the next birding generation, if I have anything to do with it, & I can't wait to take him birding with me.

While we were there two House Martins were visiting a muddy puddle to collect mud. They were flying low & fairly confiding therefore. so I was able to lock Max's attention on these little beauties as they swooped low & slow to the pool.

Max was fascinated for a while and we watched them at close quarters as they picked up mud and flew off to their nest.

The shape of things to be, I fervently hope: time will tell. But to share this moment with him was wonderful.

He didn't get on to the Green woodpecker that flew past a moment later, though - his attention span is measured in seconds rather than minutes!
