I came here to find out what's being said about the All the birds of the world book coming out this year. Am tempted by it.

But surprisingly, I couldn't find a thread about it - I must have missed it?

Except that I'm not particularly fond of Arlott's illustrations.

Are the extinct species likewise illustrated, or are they only listed?

Extinct species are illustrated, except for those that are only known from fossils or from bones only.

I have my copy since last week. I think these are the same illustrations than in the HBW and BirdLife Illustrated Checklist.

That's what was to be expected! Unless they would have commissioned some extras. But the additional costs would hardly be covered by the low selling price of this book.
