I'd just like to recommend these two to anyone with an interest in the natural history of the house and Garden. Both follow a farm house in Kent from the 16th Century to today. Both are an enjoyable read with plenty of detail.

Where in Kent, just out of local curiosity?

The farm is called Barton's End but I don't recall a precise location being given - other than in the Weald of Kent.
