Northern California Gull (1 Viewer)

I photographed this gull in Oakland. Unfortunately my gull identification is poor at best. This bird and the bill looked small and delicate compared to the laughing gulls and ring-bills that were present. Not sure whether its a juvenile, but would appreciate your help. Thanks much.

I would go with Mew Gull, and I don't think your other gulls were Laughing Gulls. There are a few possibilities though.

it is a mew gull, larus canus brachyrhynchos, supposedly soon to be split from the other 3 taxons of larus canus.

brachyrhynchus ;)

But brachyrhynchus means 'short-billed', which this bird definitely isn't; its bill looks even longer and slenderer than L. c. canus . . . an odd bird!
