Boreal owl

Hi I'm not very knowledgeable about birds but tonight I heard a call I've never heard before so going on to YouTube I found out that the bird was a boreal owl, is this possible in the UK?

Well from the searching I have done, they are seen in Europe but not mentioned in any particular area.

Hi there Jessie and a warm welcome to you from those of us on staff here at BirdForum

Very unlikely but there was one in Shetland recently, known as Tengmalm's owl in Europe.

If you had one on mainland UK, every birder in the UK would probably turn up to see it.

Hi jessiej and a warm welcome from me too.

I'm sure you will enjoy it here and I hope to hear about all the birds you see when out and about.
