Only Me
Just to let you know, the new hides are open at Amwell (have been since the last Bank Holiday). although work on the site is not yet completed as the contractors are finishing off the refurb of the footpaths and fencing.

Oh and my first post....... :)

Hi Peter, i've been to Amwell once before and can say without a shadow of doubt, it's got potential to be a very, very nice site in several years time. If I didnt keep losing my notebooks i'll tell you what I saw, but I can remember 2 Cuckoo's, Cetti's Warbler (and 6 other species of warbler) a few Common Tern, a Hobby, 4 Lrp's and a Grass Snake.
Do you know if they are planning any other work on the site? When I went it looked like they were developing it into something quite big.
Cheers
Steve

There were some hilarious messages on the Londonbirders list (and doubtless elsewhere) concerning the Great Reed Warbler at Amwell last month - roughly 50 yards outside the official London recording area!

I've always liked Amwell, although the configuration of the hide overlooking the feeders always baffled me - big hide but only one person at a time can view the feeders!

Anyway must get back there soon, last year's Little Bunting was my one and only 'twitch' - I understand Rye Meads have some new hides open as well, making the area a very attractive proposition for a day out.
