?? Sparrow, Saskatchewan, Canada (1 Viewer)

hi all,

This bird was photographed by a friend in Battleford, Saskatchewan, in August of 2009. We are both thinking it's a Clay-Colored Sparrow, but that's really just a guess. Doesn't look totally typical, so... Verification or correction pls?

Looks good for Clay-colored Sparrow, as you suggest. Pale lores rule out Chipping.

You're welcome. I'd call the coloration "buffy"; just might look a bit yellow in this photo.
