Heron using bait to lure fish (1 Viewer)

That video is years old, it crops up again every few months when someone 'rediscovers' it :-O

Indeed, but more recent instances of the technique have also been recorded. I witnessed it myself a number of years ago when I watched a young Green Heron bait minnows with a large green grasshopper. After stripping off the legs, it dropped the torso in the water and then waited in immobile hunting posture until suddening stabbing down at the floating carcass and coming up with a small fish which it immediately swallowed. Quite a nice thing to have seen. . ..
