Best bird guides by region...Europe

I've seen lots of threads from people new to birding, or going on holiday somewhere unfamiliar, who ask what's the best field guide for such-and-such a place. I wondered if the denizens of the books department here would mind helping to create a list of the best field guides for different regions of the world.
Doesn't have to be country-by-country, although a few places are pretty well single-country areas, like Australia.
Here goes:

Europe
Collins Field Guide - L. Svensson, K. Mullarney, D. Zetterström, P. Grant. 2nd Edition, 2010.

Tough crowd. Anyone fancy suggesting the best guide/guides for North America?

Lars Jonsson for Europe still has a pretty big spot in my heart.

Thanks! Forgot that you can only edit threads for 24 hours... I'll have to grab a mod to update it...
Cheers,

This thread is about Europe, and it seems that anybody looking for a FG for the region must think that there is not much to select from. While it's hard to beat the superb "Collins" (Svensson et al.), it also offers such an array of species that many may find it too much to take. No wonder, then, that the variety of less complete books, or those that cover a restricted range only, has rather increased than diminished. Books covering the very edges of the area that counts as Europe, might be less easily found. Here is one that goes to the SW extension and into Africa:

Though, except for the Azores and the Cape Verdes, the area is covered in the "Collins".
