Strid Walk
Had a great walk up and down the Strid this morning - plenty of pied flycatchers, male and female redstarts and even saw a woodcock! I've attached a couple of photos. Sadly no wood warblers, however. And if the guy with the telescope who helped me with pied flycatcher and redstart is reading this - thank you so much for your help, it was very much appreciated! I really must get to grips more with bird song recognition!!

I was there on Thursday, and had been told about woodcock but couldn't see it. Wood warblers had been heard the day before so they are there but perhaps the weather isn't to their liking right now. It was the first time I hadn't seen cuckoo when visiting the area but I heard one at the lower reach of Barden Fell having just left the Valley of desolation. There I had a pair of fly by ring ouzels and a few stonechat.
