Great tit guarding a nest box (1 Viewer)

This afternoon I've been watching some coal tits using a new nest box for the first time.
Later a great tit started investigating and they appeared to take turns going in and out.
Then the great stood at the entrance for 5 mins before hoping in. Then the coal tit went in as well and one bird exited quickly....not sure which one?
I assume there's a battle for control. Is this common behaviour?
