The Hebrew one may have scientific names in latin script plus maps so could be useful. I'm told that Hebrew has no vowel sounds so I don't see how they could even approximate a phonetic representation of the names?

There is a well-illustrated book by Larsen on the butterflies of Lebanon,in English,which is just up the road. Its not a field guide but is full of colour illustrations.

Thanks for your help. I think I may go for photographing everything and seeing if I can justify the cost of the recent Lebabnon one when I get back or whether I should see what I can id on-line.
