I am utterly incompetent on computers but I just started bird watching, at age 71, and wanted to see what others have experienced in this area. I guess this is my hello, I'm new even tho I tried to figure out how to reach the Hello section. Anyway, this looks like a very interesting and entertaining site.

Thanks. My son recently put one of those black wrought iron bird feeder stations in our yard. I have full view from my living room. I never had any interest in birds until I started watching them fight each other for the food there. First there were cardinals, then blue jays (note proper terms - didn't say red birds and blue birds and they were awesome to watch. Then here came the sparrows. There are multiple stations and lots of food but for whatever reason, they all want the same one so end up fighting. It's so funny, one bird will land on another to push him off when there are empty stations available. In the back yard, my son has found dead sparrows, pecked to death. I wonder if all this is normal behavior.
