The one surprise miss today was Mediterranean Gull! Ninety-nine times out of a hundred you can pick one or two up in Amble Harbour but today was that one day when no matter how hard I looked they were all Black-headed! :-O

I saw the new year off in Berlin, Germany and I just returned home to the UK tonight. I din't have much chance to go birding, but I still picked up some stuff. I'm particularly pleased with the first bird which is one I'm unlikely to get on any of my planned trips this year. The Tawny Owl was the only bird on the list seen in the UK so far this year.
