Frisco area in August - any must-see sites?

I'll have a week in early August to play around Frisco. This will be a new area/ new birds for me since I've "become" a birder, so pretty much everything will be a treat.

We should have several days for short hikes and bird watching. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Point Reyes...north of San Francisco.... You will find this area has multiple birding areas within the park grounds. You will need a car though. My favorite spot was at Limantour although Abbots Lagoon can be solid birding in the pond, Drakes Estero can be cool too as elephants seals are abundant ... Polomarin and Bear Valley are two other areas in the park to see and I think would be well worth it in August from what I understand. Stop by the ranger station though and ask.

I stayed in Petaluma although Novato is okay too...not far from the park (30 min) and plenty to eat etc ... You will enjoy

Frisco Colorado! It is very confusing I admit. The people I am going with were talking about going to Frisco and I was totally lost at first.

it's west of Denver, north of Breckenridge in the White River National Forest.

Just got home. I saw several new birds for me, Red-naped Sapsucker, Gray Jay, Pine Siskin, and a bunch of birds I need to ID (lots of hummingbirds, maybe all Broad-tailed and maybe more).

I never got to the treatment ponds though I heard they were good. There were almost no ducks and I think it was a little early for them.
