While out in the yard today I had a new visitor I could not identify. After quite a bit of searching it looks like a Bewicks wren. The long beak is what caught my eye. Definitely not a sparrow. Larger, mostly brownish w/white belly, long thin beak, stripe near eye. Map shows nothing this far east. Could I be confusing it with a similar bird?

Hi Pam. Around here it's either House Wren or Carolina Wren. The eye stripe makes it most likely Carolina.

I also think it's a Carolina Wren. They can look very pale underneath, especially in late summer.
