Let us know how the transmission spectra analysis comparison with the CF 8x30 goes. That should be interesting to see if the 830 military Habicht is optimized for military use. Didn't Swarovski supply the military with these when Zeiss couldn't keep up with the demand?Hello Holger,

The 830 military came in today and a quick comparison shows that the CF version has a close focus range of 2 meters and the IF has 4 meters. Same DOF, FOV and (lack of) sharpnes in the edges.
For my eyes the 30IF is also sharper, but......it could be me. The reason could be that each eye is focussed seperately (and therefore more finetuned) and the CF is some kind of "compromise". The latest intell from Swaro is, that there is no optical quality difference (except for the reticle) between the CF and IF.

Jan: Any chance of getting an 8x30 habicht ga, either cf or if? Is it possible to ship over here to the U.S.? Cost? Thanks again, loved the tour of your store!
There are certain models, like the SLC 10x56, the Extendable Spotting Scopes, and some rifle scopes that just cannot be ordered by dealers in the U.S.
I just got off the phone with Swarovski North America and the CF 8x30 Habicht GA is one of those models.
Oh well.
I would like to have an 8x56 SLC HD as well. It would have outstanding optics.Gordon: Bummer! May have to look outside of North America. I assume that the SLC 8x56 HD is also on the exclusions list.

I wonder why they aren't available in America?

Thanks Jerry. I will check them out.May I suggest APM, well know German company in amateur astronomy. Don't forget to deduct the 19% vat and convert euros to dollars. My experience ordering from them to USA has been good.

Can I ask if any import/US Customs taxes were applied to the items you ordered?
Thanks!
