Hawk or Eagle in Yucatan (1 Viewer)

Paul E

Time is an illusion, lunchtime doubly so
I have just returned from Yucatan, Mexico and several times saw a large dark eagle or hawk gliding overhead. Through my bins I saw it had no white on its tail, it was predominantly black/dark with black primaries and secondaries, but with some lighter feathers mid-wing. Sorry I don't have a photo but given how often I saw these birds they must be very common, but I am having trouble IDing it.

Any ID suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks Steve for the quick reply. It wasn't as big as that, about the size (or poss slightly bigger) of a Buzzard in the UK I would say and definitely no white on primaries or secondaries.

Paul
