Happy New Year to everyone. Was very happy to see 358 birds last year, a personal record but also due to heavy work travel, which should (hopefully) be considerably less this year.

Have spent most of this week in Cairo, holed up in a hotel at a conference. But I did manage two journeys out and saw some great birds here, a new lifer: the glorious White-throated Kingfisher, which hovers just above the water like a Pelican and darts down.
