Backyard: hawk catches pidgin (1 Viewer)

Not that pleasant to look at. But the hawk is impressive. I think this is Sharp-Shinned Hawk.

It just snowed yesterday, and apparently the hawk was hungry. It was out there tearing apart the pidgeon for some. Seems it wants to leave nothing except feathers and beak. It might still be out there for all I know.

Good catch! Can't tell the prey for sure, but if it is a pigeon, then the hawk - larger than the prey - has to be Cooper's, as Sharp-shinned is slightly smaller than a pigeon.
